Unexpected Call

The phone rang a few minutes ago...what a surprise. Sonja H. called to tell me about something that happened at school today. (She also asked me to please tell Jodie.) Sonja is TJei's first grade teacher.

As a reward today, the kids were each given a little alligator. When the kids got ready to leave class, one little girl could not find her alligator and was very upset. TJei tried to console her classmate then gave the little girl her alligator so she would feel better. Several seconds later, TJei had a tear rolling down her cheek. She loved that gator but gave it away to make someone else feel better.

What a huge life lesson...for all of us.

I love this little girl. ♥

Recording Contract

TJei: "Grandma, can you get me a recording contract?"

Grandma: "hahahaha"

Seriously, this little girl is way beyond her years!

Middle Of Nowhere

Yesterday we went for  a ride up on the mountain and the girls were loving the freedom of being unbelted and having the windows down as we traveled along remote roadways. I think, in total, we did encounter maybe five or six other vehicles. :) Love it!!!

We did encounter a bit of wildlife although most of the animals we saw were cattle. They may be hard to spot in this picture but there are a couple elk at the edge of the trees, almost in the center of the picture. The girls were so excited! Their squeals sent the elk scurrying in a hurry.

There are some geese flying just above the water surface and the girls are simply entranced by "the big birds" over there. :) We stopped for a potty break near the fish cleaning station...just after seeing a couple deer near the campground, and they were so excited about the area.

Mia wasn't too thrilled at sharing "her" big rock with older sister TJei. After all, she found one without snakes. :)

TJei decided to pull out a map...she learned that on Dora the Explorer...to figure out where we were on the mountain. After a good deal of chatter to get herself oriented, "Here's the cows in the road" and "There's the boat in the water" she proudly declared, "Grandpa, we're in the middle of nowhere!"'

Seriously, this girl is so cute. And, that's a map of Lake Powell she's checking out. :)

Summer Swim

TJei asked, "Grandma, why do they call it a high dive?"

hmmm I don't know, TJei. Let me think about that.

You are such an amazing little girl! Just a few weeks ago you were starting your first swimming class and look at you now, going off the high dive without a care in the world. It is so cute, and so funny, that you have a little squeal each time you jump from the board. :)

Phone Number

Jodie: "TJei hang up the phone."

TJei: "I need to call SRP, do you have the phone number?"

Jodie: "What do you need to call SRP for?" (Grandpa was at work, maybe to talk with him?)

TJei: "I need a job. I want to work at SRP."

She Won!

What a surprise when TJei's name was called during the raffle! We didn't even hear it, Bishop Jackson came over and told us they had called her name. :)  I'm so glad we were at the skatepark grand opening. It was fun, too.

She hugged onto that board all afternoon. :)
